My New Mission

Okay, I have been totally inspired by Monique. As a faithful reader of many friends' blogs, I was particularly interested in one of her posts about reading the 100 greatest novels of all time. I looked up the list online, and I was surprised to find that I hadn't read very many of them... and those that I had read, I was forced to do so in high school and didn't really remember much about them. How had I missed all of these "greatest" novels? I felt totally left out of the loop! I decided to make my new mission to read these books -- wait, not just read, but really enjoy and get into them.

So I made a little trip to Half-Price Books (which is really addicting, by the way, and I highly recommend going if you like books) and bought about 10 from the list to jump-start my reading. I finished The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald (so much better than I remembered it!) and am currently getting into Animal Farm by George Orwell.

On a different note, I also recently finished a book called Marley and Me by John Grogan. This was honestly the first book in a long time that had me laughing out loud in Barnes and Noble! It's an adorable story about a man and his wife who buy a lab puppy who turns out to be what he calls "the world's worst dog". If you're a dog owner or a dog lover, you'll really appreciate the anecdotes he shares about his beloved pet. It's probably one of my favorite books of all time!

Wow, I just rambled like a true nerd about books. Next time I'll try to be a little more cool, I promise. :)

How about....""tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther....And one fine morning---So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past." That is one of my favorite books.

As to the top 100 novels of all time, I found two lists. On one I had read 13 and 11 on the other list. I was disappointed because none of them included one of my favorite books of all time, Winter of Our Discontent. The only Steinbeck book they have is Grapes of Wrath which is okay but not as good as some of his other works. But I love Steinbeck so I am biased. Anyways, I am rambling. YAY for posting on your blog! Love you bunches!

I would be interested in a book blog, as long as there is a category for trashy sex novels. You know the ones like "Nightshade"
