Yes, I'm still here... very late, but here....

Wow -- it's been FOREVER! I'm sorry to my loyal readers (ha) for not keeping up with this during the most hectic time ever -- TAKS testing -- but now I have TONS of time on my hands, so I'll be back to posting regularly!

I truly cannot believe that school is over. Our last day is tomorrow, and then I'm leaving WHMS for McC. That's right, we're moving back to Houston! Anyway, I am very sad to be leaving my school and my kids. I thought I'd be ready for them to go (don't get me wrong -- we definitely all need a summer vacation right about now!), but it's been so hard this last week saying goodbye and packing everything up. I honestly feel that I have made a difference and a positive impact on their lives, no matter how often it seemed like a losing battle this year. I guess it will get easier to say goodbye as I have more classes of students leave me for 8th grade, but since these guys were the very first, it has been really tough on me. Tomorrow will be incredibly hard, to say the least!

I'm also saying goodbye to some really great teachers and friends -- our "new class" of first year teachers was amazing and I will really miss their company next year. They have helped me through some of the hardest days of this past school year, and I hope they know they will be truly missed! :)

As far as summer plans, besides the impending move, we are going on vacation to Disney World and possibly to Europe (business trip for Todd that I'm allowed to tag along on!). We have quite a few weddings to attend, and somewhere in there, take a little time to relax and take care of things I've put off all year. The first few days of summer, though, don't bother calling before 10 AM-- I fully intend to take advantage of the fact that I don't have to get up at 5:15 anymore! :) Happy summer everyone!
