One Month Later...

OK, so it's officially been one month to the day since I posted. I've been so neglectful... sorry to those of you out there that actually still check this! Anyway, as I posted last time, I started my teaching job a few weeks ago and have been running in a million different directions ever since.

Do you remember 7th grade? Do you remember the drama of who is dating who and fights with friends and days when it seemed like it was the end of the world? Well, I've found out that it's twice as bad when you're a teacher... not only do you get to "mediate" all of the drama, but you have to try to get your subject through all of those other distractions and hopefully make an impression somewhere. After only 10 days of school, I've had 3 girls crying in my class, broken up more than my share of 7th grade PDAs, and I think I might have turned in the school's latest graffiti artist. Oh yeah, and did I mention I've also been trying to teach math and figure out my role as the Assistant Cheerleader Coach?!?!?

The hardest thing about teaching for me has been the hours. I get up at 5:15 to leave the house by 6:15 to beat the traffic so I can be at school by 7:30. The kids come at 8, and then it's solid class time until 3. But lately, I've been so busy trying to get my room in order and lesson plans finished that I don't leave until around 5... which puts me back in rush-hour traffic. The length of the day isn't bad, it's just the getting up early part that takes some getting used to! :)

When it comes down to it, though, everything is totally worth it because I'm finally in a classroom. The kids are a challenge, but part of that is the age and part of that is just us getting to know each other. I'm so excited to see how the rest of the year plays out!!

Girl, if you think MS drama is bad. Wait till you have the fights over "who is the baby's daddy" Hope you love your day and your long hours just as much as I do. Becuase the time if spend with the kids from 8-4, flies by. It is the other stuff that I don't like. Miss you!!!! Call me sometime!

PS. What were you thinking being a cheerleader sponser. That is just plain crazy. You may want to check you mental state
